Seychelles deflation falls to 3.5% in July

Consumer prices in Seychelles fell by 3.5 percent in July from last year, the decline slowing slightly from June’s 3.6 percent, official data showed on Friday.

The National Statistics Bureau said prices of fish went up by 26.1 percent during the period, but costs of other food items and and non-food products fell.

“The other food index stood at 195.7 in July 2010 reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 7.0 percent whereas the non-food index of 174.6 reflects a price decrease of 3.1 percent,” the bureau said in a statement on its website.
