Ministry presents palm kernel processing equipment to Assembly
The Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs, Mrs Juliana Azumah-Mensah, on Friday presented palm-kernel processing equipment to the New Juaben Municipal Assembly for use by women groups in the area.
The presentation formed part of the ministry’s support to small-scale manufacturing women groups in the districts for empowerment and economic improvement.
The Minister, in presenting the equipment to the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Alex Asamoah, appealed to him to ensure that the beneficiary group was assisted to raise funds for the provision of shelter and other logistics to augment the use of the equipment.
She said the ministry recognized the need for promotion of women’s participation in vibrant economic activities to impact positively on their families and the communities at large.
Mrs Azumah-Mensah said the use of traditional methods and equipment in most of the economic activities of women had been a major draw back in their businesses and economic empowerment.
Mr Asamoah thanked the ministry for the donation and said the assembly would identify a women’s group that is hardworking and diligent in their business to access the equipment.
