GFA will train more local coaches – Nyantakyi

Mr Kwasi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has hinted that the FA will from next month, organise a licence “B” coaching course for local coaches in the country.

He said the move is to enhance the knowledge of the coaches and prepare them adequately to take over the coaching duties of the various national teams.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Mr Nyantakyi said, the initiative will also improve the technical competencies of the local coaches at all levels of the game.

The GFA president indicated that, his outfit will also arrange attachments courses for coaches with international clubs to expose them to modern techniques of the game, as part of efforts to get competent coaches for the various national teams.

He noted that, the GFA had already sponsored some coaches to Germany to build upon their capacity, adding that, some have already acquired the licence A, and was hopeful that, the nation will have competent coaches to lead and handle the teams at the international scene.

Mr Nyantakyi said the GFA has no deliberate policy of denying local coaches the opportunity to coach the national team, but rather, the ultimate objective of his administration was to see “our local coaches handle the national teams”.
