Don’t misapply funds for school feeding – Opoku-Manu

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Opoku-Manu, has urged managers of the school feeding programme to ensure efficiency and transparency in the management of funds for the programme.

Additionally, they should see to it that the school children are fed with wholesome meals.

Mr Opoku-Manu, who was addressing a meeting with assembly members and heads of department during an official tour of the Asante-Mampong Municipality, gave the assurance that the feeding programme would be extended to more schools in the region.

This, he said, ties in with the government’s goal of promoting quality education.

He encouraged all stakeholders to do their bit to complement the government’s efforts at raising the standard of education to give the nation’s youth a better and more rewarding future.

Mr Opoku-Manu also talked about interventions to boost agriculture, citing the provision of credit facilities, supply of fertilizers and other farming inputs to farmers.

Added to these, is the improvement of feeder roads linking the farming communities.

The Regional Minister encouraged the assembly members to work hard and with passion to bring development to their various electoral areas.

Mr Opoku-Manu had earlier inspected some school projects financed by Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) in the Municipality.

These included classroom blocks for the Krobo Junior High School (JHS) and Mampong Presbyterian Primary School and a dormitory block for the Saint Monica’s Senior High School (SHS).

Mr Daniel Appau-Ohyeamang, the Municipal Chief Executive, (MCE) said bad roads in the municipality would soon be rehabilitated.

Nana Boakye Yiadom Ntonsa, Asante-Mampong Gyasehene, counselled supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to engage in acts of lawlessness.
