Grand View Hotel officially opens

Management of the newly opened Grand View Hotel (GVH), located at Kantamanto in Accra, has noted that they are ready to redefine the standards in the hospitality sector of the tourism industry.

Mr. Samuel K. B. Omari, Managing Director (MD) of the hotel said this at the official opening of the hotel on Sunday, which attracted very important personalities including those from the business community, the tourism experts, among others.

According to Mr. Omari, one of the philosophies of the hotel is to ensure that services that would be enjoyed by their clientele, would be very impossible to replicate anywhere in the hospitality and service industry in Ghana.

He mentioned that customer service was a key priority for management of the hotel and for that matter, would ensure that the staffs adhere to that, where every body that enters the hotel would be given a kingly and queenly treat.

Mr. Omari, who is also the Managing Director of Power Packed Distribution Centre, hinted that employees had been taken through some training programmes before starting work and this he said, sought to bring them to live up to expectation as their services must conform with the international standards.

According to him, plans are far advanced to hook up with some international hotelier programmes in order to give the employees the chance to learn the best practices in the industry.

The location of the Grand View Hotel at Kantamanto within the Central Business District of Accra is aimed at easing accommodation problem confronting the travelling public.

The World is gradually taking a different turn as old and unacceptable habits are being dropped and people are drawing closer and clinching to their faith.

GVH, the first class luxury located in the heart of Kantamanto, a few metres from the Rawlings Park has gone further and set a pace that is yet to be matched in the hospitality industry.

The seven-storey hotel, which is to be officially opened to the general public in March this year, does not allow smoking in its rooms as requirements from the Ghana Tourist Board. The conference centre, which can be used by corporate institutions and groups, has a seating capacity of 100 people. It can be used for meetings, launching of programmes as well as entertainment events.

The hotel has also become a home to many Ministers who travel to Ghana and use the place for their quite time and seclusion for prayers. The hotel boasts of 24-hour security and surveillance cameras, and 24-hour room service as the hallmark.

The big Mercy Minta restaurant, situated at the first floor of the hotel under a wonderful condition, which is named after the mother of the MD, also provides both local and continental cuisines, and this Mr. Omari emphasized that breakfast would generally be gari and beans, fried plantain, etc.

The 56-room hotel is strategically situated at the Central Business District of Accra to enhance the growth of businesses and it can easily attract tourists, traders who travel to Kantamto, Agblogbloshie and other places. The hotel has a storage space available for guest to keep their goods at no cost.

Grand View Hotel has 56 luxuriously apartments and elegant rooms with contemporary décor, with all the facilities that are expected from a first class hotel, such, a gym, a lift, and conference rooms, among others.

He, therefore, urged them to be careful in their actions and as such should help gain confidence in the rank and file of the hotel.

George-Harrison T. Kankam, a Deputy Director at the Ministry of Tourism called for teamwork among the staff and be each other’s keeper so as to be able to protect each other.

He reminded them that while they are at the hotel working, they are writing their own testimonials, and as such, nobody would condone any wrong-doing by any worker, but management needs to sanction anybody who misconducts himself/herself.

He mentioned that without the collective efforts of all, the hotel would not be able to stand the test of time and be able to surmount challenges that might confront it to successes.

Mr. Kankan urged the staff to redouble their efforts to put the hotel in a pedestal where it can rob shoulders with other world acclaimed hotels, and as such, should be able to give an improved services to its numerous clientele.

“You can only achieve this when you are more united. So, therefore see yourselves as one big family fighting for a common course so that in future you can pride yourselves that you have contributed to making Grand View Hotel one of the best in the country and beyond,” he emphasized.

He challenged them to give out their best to ensure that clients get value for money, saying that the clients would then return to their homes with smiles on their faces and as such, would continue to make repeat visits to the hotel.

The Tourism Officer reminded the staff that no matter how stressful a client becomes, it is the duty of the workers to distress that person by exhibiting professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
