U.S. Embassy in Ghana to introduce Electronic Visa Application Form

Ghanaian travellers to the US will soon apply for their visa electronically as the US Embassy introduces a new system of application that eliminates paper work.

The fully web-based nonimmigrant visa application from, the DS-160, will replace the current Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF), an invitation letter to the launch sent to ghanabusinessnews.com has said.

The launch of the new web-based system will take place at the US Embassy on Monday February 22, 2010, and it is expected to make the visa application process more efficient. The use of this modernized form will be mandatory for all nonimmigrant visa applications submitted at the US Embassy in Accra beginning April 1, 2010, the Embassy in Accra indicated.

According to the letter, the DS-160 electronic application is already being used at 24 US embassies and consulates around the world, and it will be available online for users in Ghana beginning March 22, 2010.

Visa applicants will be able to access the new electronic form at: www.ceac.state.gov/genniv or through the US Embassy website at: www.ghana.usembassy.gov.
