Court issues warrant for the arrest of two for stealing fowl

Mr Seth Bio-Nyamekye, magistrate at the Twifo Praso district court, on Monday issued a bench warrant for the arrest of two friends, who allegedly stole a fowl and jumped bail after their arrest.

The accused persons, Yaw Asiedu 19 and Owusu Asamoah 33 from Twifo Asamoakrom were arrested and granted bail on January 15 and asked to re-appear on Tuesday, January 26 but failed to turn up.

Prosecuting, Inspector John Konlan said Asiedu, who was a regular customer at a drinking bar belonging to one Mr Yaw Avonyu went to the bar on January 10 this year, and after drinking allegedly stole a fowl from the compound.

He said a witness who saw Asiedu with the fowl, challenged him but he took to his heels and the matter was reported to the police.

Inspector Konlan said the accused was arrested on January 15 and he admitted the offence and mentioned Asamoah as the one who killed the fowl and prepared light soup with it.

Asamoah was also arrested and the two were charged with stealing and abetment respectively.
