Kwabre health insurance scheme owes over GH¢441,000
The Kwabre District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme is indebted to public and private health providers in the area to the tune of GH¢441,910.71.
The Asonomaso hospital has highest unpaid claims of GH¢104,402.03, Mamponteng Health Centre, GH¢89, 695.17, Aboaso Health Centre, GH¢38,044.80, Kenyase Health Centre, GH¢32,225.90 and the Antoa Health Centre, GH¢8,689.99.
Dr Kwabena Boateng Boakye, District Director of Health Service, said this was putting enormous stress on the facilities and affecting health care.
He therefore appealed to the scheme managers to act with dispatch to recover the money.
Dr Boakye made this known during a 2009 performance review meeting held by the District Health Directorate at Mamponteng.
Health personnel, assembly members and heads of decentralised department discussed achievements and challenges during the year and mapped out strategies to enhance performance.
Dr Boakye complained about inadequate staff, saying, with the population of more than 125,000, the district has only two medical officers.
He said family planning acceptance was on the rise and that a total of 3,533 embraced the programme during the year.
The District Director called for team work to improve on health care.
