Ghana to start gas production first before oil – Minister
Ghana will start production of natural gas from its largest oil field, the Jubilee oil field before oil production starts this year.
A Reuters report quoting the Energy Minister, Dr. Joe Oteng-Adjei said the production of gas will start in the fourth quarter of 2010.
Dr. Adjei told the Reuters that Ghana is looking at gas first. He said oil production will follow later. He indicated that oil production will be dependent on infrastructure development.
According to Dr. Adjei the gas will be used to boost Ghana’s power production.
