MDAs urged to respond swiftly to correspondences from RCC
Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, on Wednesday expressed concern about poor communication between some Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC).
He has therefore directed all heads of MDAs in the region to prepare and submit their 2009 Annual Performance Report to the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) for collation and submission to the office of the Head of Civil Service.
Mr Amenowode who was speaking at an Annual Get-Together organized by the RCC for heads of MDAs and the media in Ho, noted that though he expressed similar concerns last year, some MDAs were still defaulting and charged them to quickly and efficiently respond to all correspondence from the RCC.
“Information, and timely information at that, is very critical to our work as a Regional Coordinating Council. Information is required for a particular assignment at a particular time. That essence is lost when the timeliness of the information so required is not adhered to,” he stated.
Mr Amenowode described 2010 as a year of action, which would witness the implementation of projects and policies in the region and the country at large, and called for support from all.
He charged heads of MDAs to intensify supervision at their work places to ensure higher productivity for a better Ghana.
Mr Amenowode implored them to tirelessly check laziness, lackadaisical attitude to work and absenteeism at their work places.
He commended the clergy, security services and the media for their contribution towards the development of the region and urged them to do more.
During an open forum, The Right Reverend Francis Amenu, Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) Church, commended government for continuing to work on projects started by the previous regime, and called for support for the E.P University to enhance the human resource base of the region.
Mr John Tsrakasu, a senior officer at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, underscored the need for individuals to go into backyard gardening as done during the “operation feed yourself” days.
