Togolese team leaves Angola as Nations Cup begins

The Togolese national team has pulled out of the 2010 Orange Nations Cup in Angola after three members of the team were murdered on their way to compete in the competition.

After the dastardly incident in Cabinda, the players decided to pull out of the competition but had a change of mind. However, the Togolese authorities insisted that the team returns home.

And as the opening match between host nation Angola and Mali got under way, the Hawks of Togo flew out of Angola.

The match between Angola and Mali ended in a 4-4 draw. Mali came back to recover after going down 4-0.

Before the match started, a minute’s silence was observed in honour of the dead.

This shameful asault on the Togolese team and crew should be investigated and the culprits brought to face the full weight of the law to serve as deterents to other hawks and wolves mingling with humans on the African soil even in 21st century, it would have been better for all the West African teams to even pull out in solidarity with their brothers from Togo. May the good Lord protect and deliver us from the Barbarians still leaving amogst us even our corrupt and delilish leaders. Amen
