Another global bioenergy conference comes to Ghana

biofuelGhana’s position as a focus point for discussions on issues regarding alternative energy sources has been further strengthened by the fact that another major global conference on bioenergy will be held in Ghana.

Conference organizers, Green Power Conferences in partnership with Partners for Euro-African Green Energy (PANGEA) with the support of Ghana’s Ministry of Energy is organizing the Bioenergy Markets West Africa Conference and Exhibition in Accra.

The conference scheduled for October 27 to 29, 2009 will be held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra and it is on the theme “Enabling sustainable biopower, biogas & biofuels development inWest Africa.”

It will assemble some of the influential individuals and organizations in the area of alternative energy. They include; Dr. CheickModibo Diarra, Biogas Ambassador & Africa Chairman,Microsoft Corporation, Mali; Giovanni Venturini Del Greco, Partner, Agroils & Chairman, Jatrophabook, Italy; Ruud van Eck, Director, Diligent Energy Systems, The Netherlands; Dr. Felix Babatunde Obada, Group Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Global Biofuels, Nigeria and executives of some of the companies that are investing in biofuels in Ghana.

There will be a pre-conference workshop on 26 October 2009 on the theme “African Biofuels: Links with the North.”

The global economic, food and energy crisis make this conference the more relevant, particularly when there are issues with competition between biofuels and food cultivation.

A conference of this nature should obviously provide deep insights into the issues and most probably some answers.
