The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Thursday commended Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, the immediate past Director of the Cardiothoracic Centre (NCTC) of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for his praiseworthy efforts in the establishment of the Centre in 1989.

A statement from the Ministry in Accra hailed Prof. Frimpong Boateng for setting a high standard in the construction and maintenance as well as training and management of personnel at the Centre.

NCTC was established with the mandate of treating cardiothoracic cases in the West Africa Sub-region.

“The Ministry is happy and indeed proud to be associated with your achievements,” the statement said.

It said since the establishment of the Centre, Prof. Frimpong Boateng had worked under pressure without most of the equipment and the infrastructure that could have made work easier.

The statement commended the Professor for not only holding the fort until the 20th anniversary of the centre but the fact that he handed the medical facility over to more than 130 youthful professionals who are having a deep sense of responsibility and ownership to the unit.

The ministry was expecting that the new administration would handle NCTC with professionalism to ensure that the facilities were not only maintained but expanded for generations yet unborn.
