AngloGold Ashanti considering $426m gold mine venture in Australia

anglogold-ashantiAngloGold Ashanti, Africa’s largest gold producer and the world’s third largest producer is reported to be studying a A$520 million ($426 million) mine development in Western Australia state with venture partner Independence Group NL.

The report by the Bloomberg news service says AngloGold Ashanti, which is owner of a 70% stake in the Tropicana project, and Independence have approved a study into the proposed development. The project is expected to produce between 330,000 and 410,000 ounces of gold annually from 2013, according to AngloGold Ashanti.
