Rural banks asked to do organizational, operational restructuring for efficiency

Mr. Eric Osei-Bonsu, Managing Director of the ARB Apex Bank, has appealed to Rural and Community Banks (RCBs) to do more by way of operational and organizational restructuring to enhance efficiency.

This, he said, was necessary to enable them to meet the challenges of the increasing competitive and turbulent business environment.

Mr. Osei-Bonsu said this in an address read for him at the 22nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Odotobri Rural Bank at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District.

He called for merger of the RCBs to help them to stay in business and said it was his hope that the Odotobri Bank would blaze the trail as the birthplace of the first merged RCBs in the country.

The Managing Director advised Boards of Rural Banks to institute risk management policies to identify, assess, monitor and control risks.

“It is important for RCBs to invest in training programmes that will help them to improve on service delivery”, he said.
