IGP, CDS fired!

It has now been confirmed that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has indeed been sacked, by President Mills.

Ghanabusinessnews.com can confirm that the IGP, Mr. Patrick Kwarteng Acheampong and the Chief of Defence Staff  (CDS) Lt. Gen., J. B. Danquah have been dismissed by the President.

In a statement signed by the President’s Secretary, Mr. J. K. Bebako Mensah, the President was said to have met the two security chiefs in his office today, Monday January 26, 2009, where he thanked them for their services to the nation and relieved them of their positions.

The two have subsequently been retired effective January 28, 2009, the statement said.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral A. R. S. Nunoo, has been asked to act as Chief of Defence Staff, and Mrs. Elizabeth Mill-Robertson, a deputy Commissioner of Police have been asked to act as IGP pending the appointment of a substantive CDS and IGP.
