The National Association of Sheanut Farmers, Processors and Buyers of Ghana has congratulated President John Evans Atta Mills and Vice President John Mahama for their assumption to the highest office of the land.

Members however, appealed to President Mills and his administration to work harder to meet most of the aspirations of Ghanaians who reposed the confidence in them and so they would renew the NDC’s mandate in 2012.

In a statement issued in Tamale and signed by Mr Emmanuel Abu Alhassan, Secretary, said “The Association has expressed happiness that President Mills had been given the nod to rule Ghana because he is someone who can deliver on his campaign promises.

“The Association is therefore appealing to Ghanaians to cooperate with the government to deliver, since attempts by opposition parties to discredit President Mills and the NDC would not help in Ghana’s development,” the statement said.

Mr Alhassan appealed to President Mills and his administration to pay attention to the shea nut industry, since majority of people in the Upper East, Upper West, Northern and parts of the Volta and Brong Ahafo Regions depended so much on shea nuts for their survival.

He also stressed the need for a separate board of governors from the Cocoa Board to ensure effective administration and the necessary assistance for the shea industry, since all “Lucrative” help remained in cocoa farming areas.

He explained that if the shea nut industry had a separate board, people from the north would have control over the industry and could source separate funding to boost the industry.
