Zain provides emergency numbers for customers

zainZain Ghana has announced the establishment of toll free emergency short-code numbers to give Zain customers easy access to the emergency services, a statement issued in Accra by the telecom service provider said.

The company has also donated special handsets to the emergency service providers to enable them respond speedily to emergency calls from Zain customers.

The statement said Zain customers could connect to emergency personnel 24/7 by dialing the following ‘191’ for the Ghana Police, ‘192’ for the Ghana National Fire Service and ‘193’ for the Ghana Ambulance Service.

Representatives of the emergency services were each presented with response-ready handset at a ceremony at Zain’s flagship store at Osu (Oxford Street).

Deputy Chief Fire Officer (DCFO) Philip Aheng-Mensah, Director of Fire Safety for the Ghana National Fire Service and Mr. George Ashie of the Ghana Ambulance Service received the handsets on the behalf of their respective services.

“Ghana Police will also receive a handset from Zain,” the statement said.

DCFO Aheng-Mensah said they were pleased that Zain recognized the importance of making Ghana’s emergency response system available to all of its customers nationwide.

He said the gesture from Zain gave the emergency service providers confidence that “Zain will fully support our commitment to maintaining the health and safety of our citizens.”

Mrs. Carmen Bruce-Annan, Public Relations and Communications Manager for Zain Ghana said, the company recognized that it was important for its customers to have quick and easy access to the emergency services at no cost to them.

She also acknowledged the importance of the work of the emergency services and said Zain was happy to assist.

“We also believe that this is a way of making our customers aware of the emergency short codes to urge them to save these numbers for easy access in times of emergency”.
