Salesman jailed 15 years for stealing

A Kumasi Circuit Court has sentenced Ernest Nyarko 28, a salesman to 15 years imprisonment on his own plea for stealing personal items worth GH¢3,910 belonging to a farmer.

The items included suits, 15 pieces of wax prints, six new men’s shirts, jewellery and 500 pounds sterling.

Police Chief Inspector Nana Amofah told the court presided over by Mr Eric Baah that the complainant, Nana Bosomtwe Frimpong is a farmer whilst the accused was his tenant at Asokwa in Kumasi.

He said on June 28, last year, the complainant travelled outside the country and returned on September 2, and realised that two of his rooms had been broken into and the items stolen and reported the incident to Asokwa police.

Police Chief Inspector Nana Amofah said the complainant travelled again and returned on January 4, this year but the following day was attacked at knife point at his residence by a masked man.

He said the complainant raised alarm; some neighbours came to his aid and arrested the masked man who turned out to be the accused who was handed over to the police and after investigations charged with the offence.
