Ghana, Ethiopia throw party for Obama to support democracy in Africa

The Ghana and Ethiopia Embassies in Washington have come together to throw a party for the Barack Obama inauguration according to news reaching ghanabusinessnews.com.

Proceeds from the high profile party would be used to promote democracy in Ghana and Ethiopia.

The two embassies are jointly hosting the Foreign Diplomats Inaugural Ball. The event which is scheduled for January 18, 2009 at the James Monroe Mansion in Washington D.C. would start at 5.30 p.m. and end at 11:00 p.m.

Obama and Biden have both been invited to the event.

VIP tickets for the Ball cost $500 and general admission tickets cost $300. Those who buy VIP tickets would get access to exclusive areas and get photo opportunities with celebrities, as well as a gift bag.

Event organizers say “a generous portion of the proceeds will benefit nonprofit organizations that promote democracy and freedom in Ghana and Ethiopia.”
Traditional Ghanaian, Ethiopian and other African meals will be served.
