Black Stars Coach, Kwesi Appiah is pointing at tactical discipline as a key factor in his charges 4-0 thumbing of Sudan in a crucial World Cup qualifier played at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Goals from Asamoah Gyan, Wakaso Mubarak, Abdul Majeed Waris and Emmanuel Agyemang Badu wrapped all three points for Ghana, and Appiah says adhering to tactical instructions played in favour of the Stars.

‘The players were tactically discipline today and the way we played proved we were tactically better.’

The win has reduced the gap between Ghana and Group D leaders, Zambia to one and Appiah insists there is no cause for alarm.

‘I have always insisted that the point gap between us and Zambia did not matter as long as we can win all our games. Winning all our games is all that matters and today, the boys proved that.

‘We walked into the game knowing we needed to win to keep on course and though we were desperate to get the goals, the boys still stayed composed and worked hard.’

Appiah was mandated to win Ghana a third successive slot to the global gathering billed for Brazil when contracted by the football association 11 months ago; and also tasked to led the team to a last four finish.

Ghana will be required to win the three remaining duels with Sudan and Lesotho away, and the epic meeting with Zambia at home to make an entry into the last tier of the qualifiers which will be a crucial two-leg affair.

Appiah led the Stars to a fourth place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations that ended in South Africa in February 10.
