Ghana realizes over €11m from export of wood products

Ghana realized €11,076,250 from the export of 33,330 cubic metres of wood products in March 2011.

This was contained in a report on Export of Wood Products in March 2011, released by the Timber Industry Development Division (TIDD) at Takoradi on Tuesday.

The report said corresponding figures for the same period in 2010 were €13,098,563 from 39,249 cubic metres.

This shows decreases of 15.4 per cent in value and 15.08 per cent in volume respectively.

It said the wood products were exported to emerging markets in Asia and the Far East including India, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, Singapore and Thailand.

The report said the some products were also exported to the United States and the ECOWAS countries mainly, Nigeria, Senegal, Niger, Gambia, Mali, Benin, Burkina Faso and Togo.

They were exported to Middle East countries notably Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates and Israel.
