Togbega Gabusu VI, Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional Area, has appealed for tolerance as they await the nomination of a new Regional Minister after the demise of Mr Henry Ford Kamel.

He said tolerance was a virtue also to be adopted by the eventual successor because though Mr Kamel served as the Regional Minister for just nine months, his tolerance endeared him to many and made him very successful.

Togbega Gabusu said this when he led a delegation from the Gbi Traditional Council to commiserate with Mr Henry Ametepe, Deputy Volta Regional Minister, following the death of Mr Kamel on Christmas Day.

He described Mr Kamel as a great leader who was slow to anger and decorous at all times.

“We tried sometimes to push him to the wall during the communal conflict in Hohoe but I can say boldly that he never overeacted,” Togbega Gabusu said.

He said Mr Kamel was a unifier and development oriented person and the Region had lost a great leader.

The meeting was emotional, as individuals intermittently interrupted proceedings with dirges in memory of the former Regional Minister.

Mr Ametepe officially briefed the delegation about the death of Mr Kamel and plans towards giving him a suitable burial.

He said Mr Kamel showed great love to the Gbi State and the Zongo community during the communal crisis and urged them to live in total peace.
