Switzerland to give $30.8m in budget support to Ghana

The Swiss government says it has renewed its commitment to support Ghana’s economy by providing funds to support the country’s budget.

The Swiss Embassy in Ghana made the announcement in a press release issued in Accra and copied to ghanabusinessnews.com today August 24, 2012 saying Switzerland will be providing the equivalent of $30.8 million grant to the government of Ghana under the Multi-Donor Budget Support (MDBS) framework from 2012 to 2014.

The Embassy indicated that, the decision was taken following the approval of the grant by the Swiss Federal Council which aims to help Ghana to implement its national development strategy and fight poverty as well as to strengthen the resilience of the economy in times of crises.

The release acknowledges that the grant is in recognition of Ghana’s remarkable political and economic track record, underpinned by decades of pursuing conducive economic and political reforms which have resulted in sustained economic growth and the attainment of Middle Income Country status.
