Arsenal legend Ray Parlour is due to arrive in Accra, Ghana to attend the closing ceremony of the Airtel Rising Stars clinic, officials have confirmed.

Airtel, in a press statement, said Parlour is poised to attend the first ever Arsenal-managed clinic on the African continent.

The clinic which started August 28 has brought together 41 talented youngsters from Nigeria, Zambia, Uganda and Ghana. The clinic aims at enhancing the technical skills of young boys and girls who were selected during Airtel Rising Stars regional and national programmes in their respective countries.

Parlour was a key member of Arsenal’s ‘invincibles’ squad that registered an unbeaten English Premier League campaign during 2003/2004, playing twenty five times over the course of the season.

During his time at Arsenal, Parlour picked up eight major trophies and rose to become fans’ favourite.

The Accra clinic is part of a three year partnership agreement signed between the north London club and Airtel across five countries in Africa.

The partnership allows the select Airtel operations to tap into the football club’s deep reservoir of technical resources and assets such as content, merchandising and hospitality.
