MTN-LogoGhanaian subscribers of mobile operator MTN have suffered massive credit loss over the past two days.

According to some subscribers who vent their anger on social media websites especially on Facebook, reloaded airtime credit is lost immediately it is loaded to their mobile phones.

MTN has admitted the problem and blamed it on some technical lapses on it’s side.

In a statement on its official Facebook page, MTN Ghana said “there has been a system challenge causing some subscribers to lose their airtime credit.”

The operator assured all of its subscribers that its technical team is working to rectify the challenge.

It added that all credits lost will be replaced.

Industry regulator, the National Communications Authority (NCA) is yet to comment on the matter.

MTN Ghana in recent times has been providing poor services both voice and data which has led the NCA to sanction the company on several occasions.

In December 2012, the operator was directed by the regulator to cease selling SIM cards to customers due to the spate of service disruptions on the MTN network. The ban was however lifted in that same month.

MTN Ghana has the largest subscriber market share in the Ghanaian telecoms industry. As at September 2013, it recorded a subscription of 12,764,832 out of the total 27,551,503 in the industry.
