The Komenda Sugar Factory collapsed in 1983.

Consequently, a four-member Indian sugarcane and sugar production experts were on Saturday, introduced to the Komenda community at a short durbar at Komenda in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality.

The experts led by Mr Shashank Shapre presented a video on sugarcane plantation and production to sensitize community leaders and stakeholders in the community about prospects of contemporary sugar industry.

India is one of the world’s leaders in the industry and the presentation was aimed at giving the community an insight into the industry to whip their interest on the reactivation of the proposed sugar plantation and processing project in the area.

Mr Nintin Wagn, a Mechanical Engineer of the Indian team, said the project would provide direct employment for 400 people whilst over 2,000 farmers will also benefit.

Why take years to get it right. due to neglect, greed, ignorance, corrupt and slave mentality. Sooner our leaders realised this the better. Agriculture, Water, Hydropower, Solar Power, Wind Power is what Africa and the world will need with the size of population next generation will have especially China. That is why China is grabbing everything including land. Ghana should have a law not to sell land except leasing land.
