SA drug company Adcock Ingram enters Ghana pharmaceutical sector
South Africa’s largest drugs company, Adcock Ingram Holdings Ltd., has made an offer to buy one of Ghana’s leading pharmaceutical companies, Ayrton Drug Manufacturing Ltd., the Bloomberg news service has reported.
Citing a statement from the South African company Bloomberg said Adcock wants to buy at least 51% of Ayrton Drugs, which is Ghana’s second largest drugs maker for $23.8 million. If the deal goes through, it will ensure Adcock’s successful entry in West Africa.
Ayrton Drug was incorporated on the Septemter 24, 1965 by the Late Samuel Benson Adjapong, a Ghanaian entrepreneur and the first Ghanaian Chief Pharmacist at the Ministry of Health. He was issued a certificate to commence business on October 21, 1965, the company has said on its website.
