Kevin Boateng chooses Ghana over Germany

Kevin BoatengMidfielder, Kevin Prince Boateng, has chosen to play for Ghana over the German national team, Sport Bild magazine reported Wednesday June 24, 2009.

Boateng has a Ghanaian father and a German mother.

“I would like to play for Ghana – I have made contact with officials … It’s Ghana I would like to progress with,” the magazine quoted 22-year-old Boateng, as saying.

Kevin Boateng who was born in Berlin played for Borussia Dortmund on loan from Tottenham in the second half of last season, but he struggled to hold down a starting place.

He is expected to return to London as his contract with Spurs runs until 2012.

Boateng had made three appearances for the German “A” team. He began his career with Hertha Berlin.

“There are no negatives behind my decision. I just don’t see I have a chance when it comes to the DFB, that’s all.”
