Merchant Bank reaches out to SMEs
Merchant Bank has emphasised the need to devise a very workable strategic plan to earnestly assist the growth of SME’s.
The management of Merchant Bank believes that for a realistic retooling of any economy to be put on a very sound footing, there ought to be a plan that has small and medium enterprises as the nerve centre, the Ag. Managing Director of Merchant Bank, Dr Kwami Osei Owusu has stated.
Dr. Osei Owusu says if big economies like America are finding economic solutions from the growth of the small enterprises, the developing world cannot use the sector as an alternative.
The Ag. Managing Director stated this at the official opening of the Asafo Market branch of the Bank in Kumasi. He said the location was the beginning of a range of solutions the Bank was rolling out to small businesses in particular. “The location of this branch should bring a lot of relief to our fish marketing companies, printing presses and all other traders within the vicinity who on a daily basis leave their shops and battle traffic for hours to transact business,” he stressed.
He advised the petty traders within the Asafo Market business area to take advantage of the Bank to grow their businesses.
Dr. Owusu further disclosed that the Bank would soon roll out Bantama, Roman Hill, Railways and Komfo Anokye branches, all in Kumasi. He said the Bank’s unmatched services would soon be extended to Sunyani when the Sunyani branch becomes fully operational come July this year.
The Supervising Director of the Bank, Nana Fredua Agyemang Pambuo I, assured prospective customers of the Bank’s indiscriminate services to all by ensuring fair and equitable services to all customers.
“Do not be scared by the outstanding appearance of the staff; you should rather eschew timidity and walk boldly into the banking hall to do business with us. We are prepared to do business with the truck-pusher, the porter, all petty traders as well as itinerant traders and help them to improve upon their trade,” he stressed.
